Eurocopter’s EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style helicopter will soon fly over Germany: Meravo, one of the country’s most experienced commercial helicopter operators, ordered one of the elegant high-end aircraft in order to enhance its corporate and charter services.

The new EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style will join Meravo’s fleet of 25 helicopters, which already includes the proven Eurocopter EC120, AS350, AS355 and EC145, in summer 2013. Meravo performs a broad range of helicopter missions, such as business and shuttle flights as well as aerial work operations.

“We are looking forward to receiving this exquisite helicopter, which is tailored to fulfill the high expectations of business and private travelers,” said Bernd Hauber, CEO of Meravo. “We will offer charter and corporate flights for up to eight passengers in the EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style from our main base in southern Germany and other heliports. I am sure, our customers will appreciate its elegant style and comfort.”

The EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style offers flexible and confortable transportation solutions. Created in a styling project led by the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Como, Italy, the interior of the aircraft is inspired by the automaker’s range of high-end vehicles. It features deluxe materials, elegant woods and ambient cabin lighting, along with multi-function storage areas.

Thanks to its versatile cabin design, the EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style is also tailored to a broad range of travel solutions for up to eight passengers: from executive transportation and family voyages to leisure and sport trips. All seats are mounted on rails and can therefore be easily reconfigured in order to offer multiple passenger seating arrangements or even removed to provide additional luggage room.

“With the EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style, a new silver star will appear in the German business aviation market,” highlighted Thomas Hein, Eurocopter Vice President of Customer Relations Europe. “We are delighted to provide our longstanding customer Meravo with this unique aircraft and we are confident that it will contribute to their successful operations in the future.”

With more than 500 aircraft in service worldwide, the EC145 is the helicopter of choice in the medium-size twin-engine category. It is used in a wide range of missions, including emergency medical services, police and public services, business and VIP transportation, along with offshore missions and a growing deployment for the maintenance of wind turbine fields.

    Helsinki, Finland, December 20, 2012

The Finnish Border Guard is to expand its Eurocopter fleet with the acquisition of two additional AS332 L1 Super Puma helicopters fully equipped for maritime search and rescue missions in the country’s challenging conditions.

The Finnish Border Guard is to expand its Eurocopter fleet with the acquisition of two additional AS332 L1 Super Puma helicopters fully equipped for maritime search and rescue missions in the country’s challenging conditions.

With deliveries scheduled for 2015, the rotorcraft will be configured as the AS332 L1e version, incorporating the integrated advanced cockpit and automatic flight control systems used on Eurocopter’s EC225 helicopter. They are to be based at Helsinki and outfitted for day/night operations – equipped with high-definition forward-looking infrared (FLIR) technology, a four-axis autopilot and full deicing.

A contract for the helicopters was finalized yesterday at the Finnish Border Guard headquarters in Helsinki. Signing of the Agreement was made by Brigadier General Mikko Kirjavainen, substitute of Chief of the Finnish Border Guard and Captain (Navy) Jukka Jaakkola, Chief of Technical Department of FBG HQ; and by Jacques Cardaillac, Eurocopter’s Head of Sales for Northern Europe and Benelux; and Eurocopter Sales Manager Didier Parasme.

The Finnish Border Guard already operates three AS332L1 rotorcraft, which are assigned to its Turku base on the southwest coast of Finland. The service has logged nearly 25 years experience with these Super Pumas – validating the service’s reputation for professionalism and effectiveness, while also confirming the helicopter’s capabilities in even the most extreme environment.

“This latest acquisition once again demonstrates the AS332’s qualities in highly demanding missions, and it underscores the Finnish Border Guard continued confidence in the Super Puma as a long-time operator,” explained Cardaillac
When it introduces the two new AS332 L1e helicopters in late 2015, the Finnish Border Guard will benefit from the commonality with its current AS332 L1 fleet, optimizing resources for logistics and maintenance management, as well as the training of pilots and technicians.

Eurocopter's EC175 helicopter confirms its position as leader in the medium-sized twin-engine helicopter market segment

    Marignane, France, December 12, 2012

Eurocopter has conducted the first flight of its no. 1 series-production EC175, and confirmed the excellent performance of this next-generation multi-role helicopter.

Eurocopter has conducted the first flight of its no. 1 series-production EC175, and confirmed the excellent performance of this next-generation multi-role helicopter.

The maiden flight occurred last week at Eurocopter’s Marignane, France headquarters facility, with company pilot Augustin Dupuis at the controls.

“With this first production series aircraft now airborne, the EC175 helicopter is a reality, and Eurocopter is very pleased to bring this new product in its civil range to the market,” said Lutz Bertling, Eurocopter’s President & CEO. “This first flight is the occasion to confirm our objective – which was to develop, in cooperation with our industrial Chinese partner, AVIC – the safest and best medium-sized rotorcraft, which also is a leader in terms of competitiveness, power efficiency and comfort. Following the success of Eurocopter’s EC130 T2 and the EC145 T2, the EC175 is yet another example of our strategy to provide outstanding value to customers.”

Eurocopter today announced performance figures that ensure the EC175’s competitive edge. Its recommended cruise speed is 150 kts. – 10 kts. faster than the previous figure without affecting payload range – while the maximum cruise speed exceeds 165 kts., all at extremely low vibration levels.

Eurocopter’s program flight tests to date also have confirmed the EC175’s excellent power performance including: hover out of ground effect (HOGE) at maximum take-off weight at 4,500 ft. at ISA+20°C conditions; excellent one engine inoperative (OEI) hover performance, which ensures safety during hosting for search and rescue missions ; extensive power reserve and heli-deck performance (PC1) at maximum take-off weight in ISA+20°C conditions –available with application of the latest certified version of Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PT6C-67E engines.

The EC175 avionics extends the EC225’s undisputed superiority of in-flight envelope protection, pilot assistance and situational awareness and includes the most innovative alerting and self-monitoring system. “Helionix,” the newest avionics family being certified, meets the latest international avionics standards, and makes the EC175 the second aircraft to apply them – after the Airbus A380.

For these new state-of-the-art standards compliance to be available from the initial helicopters provided to customers, Eurocopter has shifted the EC175’s certification date – while not impacting the first deliveries, which are to begin in September 2013.

“Flying the EC175 is a fantastic experience,” concluded Eurocopter company pilot Dupuis. “The excellent avionics, power, speed and low vibrations levels make it a unique aircraft.”

The first EC175 version to receive airworthiness certification will be for the highly-demanding oil and gas market. With the designed-in attributes that meet rigorous operating conditions for off-shore missions – along with its range and speed – the EC175 is the best choice to address all missions, including search and rescue, emergency medical services, public services, VIP and executive transport.

The fast-paced deliveries of four new EC135s to Skärgårdshavets Helikoptertjänst Ab (SHT) during the fourth quarter of 2012 is enabling this Finnish operator of emergency medical airlift services and air ambulance flights to modernize its helicopter fleet.

The fast-paced deliveries of four new EC135s to Skärgårdshavets Helikoptertjänst Ab (SHT) during the fourth quarter of 2012 is enabling this Finnish operator of emergency medical airlift services and air ambulance flights to modernize its helicopter fleet.

These rotorcrafts are replacing three older EC135s operated by SHT, bringing its total inventory to five of these twin-engine helicopters that are flown from bases across the country.

SHT is a well-established operator of Eurocopter rotorcraft, having logged 11,000 hours to date with its EC135s. The company began emergency medical airlift services and air ambulance flights in 1990 with a Bo 105 CB, which provided 15 years of loyal service.
“Our EC135 delivery „surge‟ for SHT underscores Eurocopter‟s ability to support customers‟ needs through the timely supply of helicopters in meeting their schedules and operational requirements,” said Roman Seidel, the Head of the EC135 program at Eurocopter. “With SHT‟s record of reliability rates already in the 98 percent bracket, the new EC135s will further enhance its high-quality service.”

SHT locates one of its Eurocopter rotorcraft at helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) bases in Helsinki, Turku, and Tampere; and at a combined HEMS/air ambulance base in Mariehamn. Another helicopter is used for HEMS crew training and as a backup aircraft.

In addition, SHT is a member of Eurocopter‟s Reliability Data Group, composed of customers who agree to regularly provide technical and operational data on their rotorcraft. This data enables the helicopter manufacturer further improve component reliability and boost serviceability for operators worldwide.

Worldwide, there are more than 1000 EC135s in service; around 50% are for emergency medical services. The EC135 was designed to meet the demands of operators in variety of mission environments. The aircraft provides high performance, extended range, flexibility, and reliability.

The initial two Eurocopter EC725 helicopters for the Royal Malaysian Air Force were formally presented today during a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, with the first unit being delivered on time and the second unit coming three months ahead of schedule.

The initial two Eurocopter EC725 helicopters for the Royal Malaysian Air Force were formally presented today during a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, with the first unit being delivered on time and the second unit coming three months ahead of schedule.

Malaysia is to receive a total of 12 EC725s through 2014, creating a highly capable fleet of rotorcraft for search & rescue and utility missions.

“Our EC725s will significantly improve the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s capabilities and ensure its helicopter inventory is modern, mission-ready and reliable,” said Defense Minister Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The no. 1 EC725 was first unveiled to Malaysia in December 2011 via a live video broadcast from Eurocopter’s Marignane, France headquarters – organized just after its rollout from the production line. It was beamed to Malaysia’s Langkawi Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition, for an audience that included Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. One year later, the first helicopter arrived in Malaysia on schedule, along with Eurocopter’s handover of the second EC725 three months in advance of the contractual delivery schedule.

“This delivery milestone is the result of the collective effort and great co-operation between the teams from Royal Malaysian Air Force and Eurocopter working towards a common goal,” highlighted Olivier Lambert, Eurocopter’s Senior Vice President for Sales and Customer Relations. “We are committed to ensure the successful delivery of the remaining orders, and stand ready to provide for all of Malaysia’s future mission needs.”

In supporting the deliveries of Malaysia’s EC725s and enhancing Eurocopter’s in-country support and services activities, the Eurocopter Malaysia subsidiary will double its capabilities by moving from its main facility in Subang to a new, expanded site within the Malaysian International Aerospace Center in early 2013.

Additionally, Eurocopter is executing a series of strategic cooperation projects that will include the participation of local industry in ensuring full support for this important delivery and the expansion of Malaysia’s helicopter market. This includes the integration of the country’s industry into its global supply chain, the creation of joint ventures with local companies to establish an in-country MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility, as well as the development of a regional full-flight simulation center. The full-flight simulation center will be used for training Royal Malaysian Air Force crews and made available for other military and civilian operators of the medium-lift EC725/EC225 helicopter family in the Asia Pacific region.

All of these cooperative projects are aligned with Malaysia’s vision and objective in strengthening Malaysian strategic aeronautical skills and capabilities through strategic partnerships, which also include specific attention in education through the development of aeronautical training capabilities in association with Malaysian Universities.

“Meeting excellence in our delivery and industrial promises for Malaysia is a top priority for Eurocopter,” explained Pierre Rossignol, President and CEO of the Eurocopter Malaysia subsidiary. “As promised ten years ago, we continue our journey towards expansion and look forward to more decades of growth and excellence in the new facility, ensuring full support to all our Malaysian customers while creating new jobs and contributing to the local economy.”

    About Eurocopter Malaysia
Eurocopter Malaysia was incorporated in 2002, and is the only helicopter manufacturer with a comprehensive network of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service centers in Malaysia. With a workforce of 120 employees and a presence in Subang, Miri and Kerteh, it provides a broad spectrum of services, ranging from scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft modification (retrofit, painting, interior refurbishment and customization), as well logistics support (spare parts, repairs and overhaul). Eurocopter Commissions Perth Helicopter Support Centre

    License settings for this image:

    Media Folder:

    Marignane, 22 November 2012

The world’s leading helicopter manufacturer, Eurocopter, is to provide a major boost to Australia’s booming off-shore oil and gas industry with the commissioning of a modern facility in Perth to support customer helicopters operating within Western Australia’s North-West Shelf region.

At present, several companies operate more than 25 17/19-passenger helicopters of Eurocopter's Super Puma family. The aircraft provide airlift supply and personnel transport operations for what is Australia’s largest oil and gas resource development.  With prompt, safe and effective support services readily at hand; this development is expected to significantly grow over the next three to four years.

The Perth Support Centre, established in the suburb of Canning Vale between Perth and Jandakot airports, comprises more than 720m2 of office, training, maintenance and warehousing facilities. Set up and managed by Eurocopter’s local subsidiary in the Australia-Pacific region, Australian Aerospace Limited, it will provide:

    •    warehousing for stock on consignment and additional spare parts,
    •    local training for customer pilots,
    •    light maintenance and repair operations, and
    •    technical support.
Commenting at the formal opening of the Support Centre this week, Olivier Lambert, Senior Vice President for Sales and Customer Relations Eurocopter, said that Western Australia’s isolation from Europe, compounded by the vast and remote area in which the Eurocopter helicopters operate, gave rise to the opportunity for Eurocopter to provide customers with in-country, close-proximity support facilities to ensure their continued success.

“With this facility, we are able to demonstrate to our customers and the booming resource industry, Eurocopter’s commitment to the development of what is one of the world’s fastest growing oil and gas regions”.

"The Perth Support Facility will benefit all local Eurocopter customers. The Western Australia Police, for example, has been operating Eurocopter aircraft in the community for more than 25 years and recently added a new AS365N3+ to the fleet. Many Eurocopter operators are loyal, long-term customers and fly products including the AS350 and the EC135. Eurocopter is set to deliver an EC130T2 to Perth, the first to be delivered in Australia-Pacific”, Mr Lambert said.

Operators in other parts of the world often have access to ready sources of local support. The ongoing success of the current fleet in Western Australia is critical to ensure the future growth of Eurocopter product operations there and to prepare for the introduction of next-generation helicopters like the EC175.

Robert Holtsbaum, Vice President Civil Helicopters, Legal and Procurement Australian Aerospace heralded the opening as a sign of the region’s importance in the helicopter market. “The Perth Support Centre provides a win-win solution which, we believe, will bring indisputable added value to our customers. It will be achieved through the cooperative partnership of Eurocopter and Australian Aerospace,” he said.
